Human Resource Council

​The Human Resource Council of the Greater Waterbury Regional Chamber offers an opportunity for business owners and human resource specialists to discuss employment related topics and concerns, and to learn about recent legislative changes and requirements.  It will also provide a forum to address human-relations issues, best practices and problem resolution. 

The Human Resource Council consists human resource professionals in chamber member businesses.  Meeting for the Human Resource Council are the second Thursday at 10 a.m. January, March, May, July, September, and November on Zoom.

Nick Zaino
Partner

Nick is Co-leader of the firm’s Business Services Group. He practices primarily in the area of labor and employment law and has extensive experience counseling, representing, and training employers on all aspects of the employment relationship. Nick’s clients range from small to large companies in various industries such as banking, medical, education, manufacturing, engineering, retail, construction, and non-profit organizations.


Working closely with C-level executives, in-house counsel, human resource professionals and business owners, Nick advises on managing risk by counseling on compliance and preventative strategies related to: managing employees with medical issues; workplace investigations; discrimination and harassment; hiring, disciplining and terminating employees; retaliation/whistleblower issues; employment, retention, separation, non-competition, confidentiality, change in control, and independent contractor agreements; wage and hour and labor law. Nick conducts training on these issues, tailoring the programs to address the employer’s needs.

Partner

Vincent maintains a versatile practice in the areas of labor and employment and general corporate law. Vincent’s clients including closely held and public businesses, non-profit organizations, independent schools, municipalities, and start-ups; in many cases, acting as clients’ general counsel.


Vincent’s labor and employment practice focuses on counseling and advising employers on all aspects of the employment relationship. He works with clients to manage risks and formulate strategies to avoid litigation and to comply with regulatory obligations. Vincent regularly represents employers in mediations, arbitrations, labor negotiations, contract negotiations and defends employers before administrative agencies such as the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, State Board of Labor Relations and federal and state Departments of Labor. Vincent is frequently invited by employers and industry groups to speak and present training seminars on a variety of common employment issues.
Topic: There are certain documents, policies and practices that every Human Resources Department must have. These include, among other things, a standard offer letter, an employment application form and an employee handbook that covers certain key topics. 

The program was led by Nick Zaino, a partner in Carmody Torrance Sandak and Hennessey LLP's Labor & Employment group, as well as partner Vincent Farisello, who practices in the areas of labor and employment and general corporate law.
