Since 1995, the Malcolm Baldrige Community Award presented by the Waterbury Regional Chamber at the annual Awards Evening has become the business community's most prestigious award. Named in honor of Malcolm Baldrige, the award recognizes those individuals whose commitment to the Waterbury community has been exemplified by vision and leadership in the area of economic development and growth.

About Malcolm "Mac" Baldrige Few can claim to have had a greater impact on American industry than Malcolm "Mac" Baldrige. Mac lived in Woodbury, and guided Waterbury's Scovill Manufacturing Company, Inc. for over two decades. He was appointed President Reagan's Secretary of Commerce during which time he implemented new laws to help American businesses grow. Malcolm Baldrige believed in community, he believed in leadership, and he believed in volunteerism. The Malcolm Baldrige Awards honor those who continue Mac's work.
