We have supported this effort in the past, with the help of former Rep. Selim Noujaim and Sen. Joan Hartley, and even got it approved a couple of years ago and sent to Gov. Malloy's desk, but he vetoed it.
There are good reasons to pass this bill, but the biggest is the jobs it will create. Not only will it remove people from the unemployment rolls (a savings to the state), it will also give people good-paying jobs, which will mean tax revenue for the state in the form of income taxes and sales taxes.
You can read about this bill and the effort being put toward getting passed in this column by Gregory Seay of the Hartford Business Journal.
