The General Assembly finally approved a state budget, and on Tuesday Gov. Malloy signed it. The governor did, however, wield his line-item veto power to carve the hospital tax out of the budget, over concerns about its language and that it might create a $1 billion hole in the budget.
So while we have a budget, this isn't over. The legislature will either have to convene to try to override the governor's line-item veto, or negotiate new language with the Malloy administration and pass an amendment to the budget. Stay tuned.
