Our bus was sponsored by Hubbard-Hall Inc. and Marjan Inc., and we had about 30 people ride with us. About 10 more met us in Hartford, meaning that once again our Chamber had one of the largest groups attending the event.
It was also an impressive group that included Mayor Neil M. O'Leary and many other names familiar to our members, including Cathy Awwad of the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board; Jonathan and Eric Albert of Albert Bros.; Chamber Chairman Timothy D. Bergstrom of Webster Bank; Charles Boulier III of Ion Bank; Chamber Vice Chairman of Public Policy Donald C. McPartland of Moore, O'Brien & Foti in Middlebury; John Ford of Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes; Tony Guerriero of the Brass Mill Center and Commons; Chamber Vice Chairman William J. Pizzuto, Ph.D., of UConn-Waterbury; Carl Rosa of Main Street Waterbury; Ann Strobel of Marjan Inc. and many others.
The day included presentations by CBIA President Joe Brennan, CACCE Chair JoAnn Ryan, and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
Our large delegation was also recognized on the House floor by Rep. Stephanie Cummings of Waterbury.
The day concluded with lunch in the Capitol's Nathan Hale Hall, with several members of our local legislative delegation stopping by, including Sen. Joan V. Hartley; Sen. Eric Berthel; Rep. Larry Butler; Rep. David Labriola; Rep. John Piscopo; and Rep. Robert Sampson. We also were visited by former senator Robert Kane, who now serves as the Republican State Auditor.
Providing opportunities like this to engage with your local legislative delegation is what our Chamber and our Public Policy Committee is all about. If you were unable to join us this year, please consider doing so in the future.
