Start a Business


Achieving a successful business venture is not an easy task.  Whether you are an experienced business owner or a first-time entrepreneur the requirements of starting or expanding a business can be very demanding.  The Waterbury Regional Chamber is very committed to assisting with all aspects of owning a business.  One of our representatives would be happy to provide you with referrals and consultation with topics such as writing a business plan, obtaining financial assistance, finding real-estate, and getting your business licensed with the State. 

The following basic steps are essential to take before starting your business:

 


Step 1

Obtain free, confidential, business assistance and licensing information from the State of Connecticut Licensing Center also known as SmartStart.  If needed a SmartStart Representative can meet in the Chamber’s offices by appointment on Thursdays.

Step 2

Create a business plan that will identify all aspects of starting and operating your business.  This document will be essential to obtain financial assistance and to determine the risks and benefits associated with your business venture.  The following sources can assist with business consultation such as writing a business plan, and other referrals:

  Step 3

Choosing a site location should be done in conjunction with and incorporated into your business plan.  The Chamber can provide you with a list of real estate brokers in our area.  Or if you would prefer, CERC maintains Connecticut's most comprehensive source of available commercial and industrial real estate properties.
